GOLDEN NOTE 2018
Protagonists of the Golden Note 2018 are young violinists selected by a distinguished jury during the IMF-audition at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MDW).
The talented youngsters, aged between five and fourteen, will demonstrate their skills in the magnificent atmosphere of the Brahms Saal of the Musikverein in Vienna and will play pieces ranging from classical to contemporary music.
A pleasant reunion will also take place between three of the four winners of the Golden Note 2017. Soley Blümel (9), Filip Trifu (13) and Ania Druml (15) will play a piano piece with the orchestra.
Emil Weller (10) had his first performance at the 10th anniversary of Hollywood in Vienna in the Wiener Konzerthaus. He is also a very talented young pianist and winner of the fourth prize of the Golden Note 2017.The opportunity to play a piece with the orchestra is part of this prize.
The Young Masters Ensemble orchestra will accompany the young pianists. Members of the orchestra are soloists from the MDW and the Johann Sebastian Bach music school (JSBM) in Vienna.
They will play a double concerto for saxophone, harp and a small orchestra, which will be an Austrain premier. Severin Neubauer on saxaphone and Chiara Sax on the harp will also play solos.
The composer of the piece, Linus Köhring, also a member of the ensemble of young masters, plays viola and joined the composition class at the MDW at the age of 12. He is one of the youngest students in the history of the composition class, with the exception of Anton Bruckner (1824-1896).
At the end of the concert the young violin talents will be honoured by the Distinguished Committee -the violinist Julian Rachlin, Peter Goetzel of the Vienna Philharmonics, the pianist Paul Gulda and Mr. Aleksey Igudesmann -.
All the participants will be given the possibility to attend Masterclasses in order to further their musical education. These classes vary for different ages and will take place at the Prague Academy of Musical Art in Summer 2018.
In addition the best in each category will receive an award of €5000 and the possibility of playing in a concert together with an orchestra.
The Golden Note 2018 will take place for the first time as a matinee in the prestigious Brahms Saal of the Wiener Musikverein. The eclectic and multi-talented composer, violin virtuoso, conductor, actor and director Aleksey Igudesman will moderate the concert and will guide the public through this unique “Talents-Matinee”.
